Orofure Pass Half-day Snowshoeing Tour – A Winter Walk Through a White Wonderland

This snowshoe experience gives you the opportunity to see a 360 degrees panorama view of the Noboribetsu landscape, including Lake Toya, Mount Yotei, and Lake Kuttara! This experience takes you though a variety of terrain giving you the opportunity to master the skills of snowshoeing. With your guide, you can experience the real beauty of the nature in the spring snow in Hokkaido!

Itinerary

adex base

Meet at adex base 15 minutes before departure to check gear and clothes, and complete formalities.

Orofure Pass entrance

Drive to Orofure Pass where we will start our snowshoe. (approx. 30 minutes)

Forest snowshoe

Snowshoe through untouched snow in beautiful forests until reaching a snow field. (approx. 30 minutes)

Snow field

Traverse the open snow field, frozen and snow-covered at this time of year, surrounded by gorgeous views of forests on all sides. (approx. 30 minutes)

Hill climb to the Pass

Snowshoe in a mix of forest of open vistas up towards the Pass, taking in the beautiful views along the way. (approx. 60 minutes)

Panorama view

Enjoy a 360 degrees panorama view of the Noboribetsu area, including views of Lake Toya, Mount Yotei, Mount Orofure, Lake Kuttara and the Pacific Ocean! (weather dependent). (approx. 30 minutes.)

Forest snowshoe

Enjoy the return downhill snowshoe through the snowy forest to the pick-up point. (approx. 30 minutes

Orofure Pass entrance

Arrive at pick-up point and drive back to adex base. (approx. 30 minutes)

Arrive at adex base, return equipment and disperse.

What do I need to bring?

This is an active winter experience, so you should dress in thermal layers that are easily removed. A hat and gloves, wind and waterproof jacket and pants are essential. Sunglasses and sunscreen for sunny days. Be prepared for temperatures as low as -15C.

Ages 18 and up

This is a moderately demanding activity as snowshoeing requires more fitness than normal hiking. If you are comfortable walking 4 kilometers in 4 hours, then you will be fine. Please be aware that due to adverse weather conditions on the day, cancellation may be unavoidable. If possible, an alternative activity will be offered.

We have 6 pairs of Men's snowshoes (Japan shoe size 25.5 cm - 30.5 cm) and 4 pairs of Women's snowshoes (Japan shoe size 22 cm - 27 cm).

Cancellation Policy

If the tour is canceled due to bad weather on the day (heavy rain, strong winds, typhoons, heavy snow, etc.), we will refund 50% of the published price of the activity tour.

We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if booking is cancelled 1 day or less before the event. 70% if booking is cancelled 2 days, 50% if booking is cancelled 7 days and10% if booking is cancelled 14 days or less before the event.

The activity tour planning products provided by ADEX Co., Ltd. (adex base) are trips planned and organized by Dai-ichi Takimotokan Noboribetsu Tourist Center Co., Ltd.
